Building Blocks Learn to Knit Series

Instructor - Kristin Brenner

Want to learn to knit or looking to expand your knitting? Building Blocks is a series designed to grow your knitting skills.  Beginning in January of 2018, we are offering a new session of this year-long series of classes designed to teach and improve knitting skills.  This class will meet on the 4th Wednesday of each month from 6-8pm.

This series is based on the pattern book of the same name by Michelle Hunter. Every pattern in the Building Blocks book focuses on the development of a skill, all while knitting a lovely square. Building Blocks introduces important knitting techniques in a systematic way, helping move the new knitter beyond the basics. Skills learned in making each block build upon the skills of the previous block, allowing the knitter to gain assurance and mastery.  Each class will offer tried and true tricks to aid the new knitter in avoiding common pitfalls, while learning to effectively read the pattern.

There are so many options for the blocks you will create.  Single blocks can be used as a washcloth. You can make one large blanket or 2 smaller blankets. You can make the project all out of one color or use multiple colors. Blankets can be made for students going away to college and knit in school colors.  The possibilities are endless!

The cost for the series is $230 which includes 13 classes over the course of one year (1 class for each block and one class to seam the blanket together), the Building Blocks pattern book, and limited free help as needed throughout the year.   There is a discount given when yarn is purchased at the shop.   Participants may also choose to pay for classes individually at a cost of $20 per class.  These participants will purchase the book separately.

Join us on this year-long adventure expanding your knitting skills!
