We are excited to welcome back Jen Sager of Fiber Me This for a Spring Fling Pop-Up yarn show. Jen has been busy working her magic in her studio, dying up beautiful skeins of fingering and DK weight yarn. These yarns are favorties here at the shop and her Pop-Ups never disappoint. Jen will be sharing with us bright spring colorways as well as stitch markers and her beloved project bags. This is a show you don’t want to miss!
Our customers have the biggest hearts! We can’t tell you how many of you come into the shop looking for projects and/or yarn to knit for charity. For the month of March, we are encouraging our tribe to create Chemo Caps and Knitted Knockers to donate to local hospitals. Cascade Ultra Pima Cotton is a wonderful yarn choice for these projects as it provides the softness that tender skin calls for, while still holding its shape and providing washability. In March, we will offer Ultra Pima for 15% off the normal price, and we will be collecting items until April 1st.
On Sunday, March 31, 2-4 pm, Common Thread will host Social Knitting to work together on charity projects, or to drop off projects already knit. Refreshments will be provided. We hope you will stop in to connect with old friends or meet new ones!
This pattern is designed by Joji Locatelli and would be as beautiful in fade yarns as it would be in a solid color. This is the perfect sweater for spring or those cool summer nights. Knit this as a group. Trade suggestions and ideas. Enjoy the finished project before Spring!
Dates for the KAL are March 10th, 24th and April 7th.

Three worlds, five yarns and eleven colors – it seems so easy to create the new sub-brand WOOLADDICTS by LANGYARNS.
The general concept is constructed around three worlds of color
- Sea spray (petrol/blue)
- Cute, but . . . (pink/nude)
- Shine out (yellow)
These are accompanied by neutral tones like black, grey and white, and are reflected in the five traits of fire, air, love, water and earth. In keeping with these are popular design models that integrate perfectly into these worlds and serve as knitting inspirations to follow. And the design is completely new.
The concept sounds easy, and so it is. The idea behind it is equally so. Yarn has become a luxury product, since nowadays knitting isn’t a necessity, but something you do because you want to. An activity that allows free rein to your creativity and gives you that wonderful feeling of having made something yourself. The creative team from LANGYARNS took this thought as their guiding principle and created a forward-looking concept built on emotions. WOOLADDICTS attracts attention through emotive images and prompts people to pause and reflect. The observer can dive into their own world, and only then do they encounter the choice of model and yarn. This approach is completely new in the world of hand-knitting yarns.

6:30-7:30: Presentation with Q & A by Lilly Marsh
Join us as Lilly Marsh talks to us about Elizabeth Zimmerman
"Elizabeth Zimmermann is commonly considered the grandmother of contemporary knitting. A designer, writer, teacher and knitting television star active between 1950 and 1989, Elizabeth revolutionized the practice of knitting with her critical attention to technique and materials, and by her invitation to other knitters to speak for themselves in their creative practices. Knitters so often feel like family-- come learn a little of our family story of how an individual developing her own creativity helped generate the rich and diverse contemporary community of American knitting."

Andrea Mowry designed a beautiful shawl pattern that we have chosen to do together as a knit along. The shawl is mostly garter stitch, with a few eyelet rows thrown in for interest. Terri from Whole Knit N'Caboodle dyed beautiful yarn for her trunk show, which many of us will be using for this KAL.
